Spain Learning Center
Logos Learning Center is an education program under the umbrella of Nueva Luz y Vida, a non-governmental organization (NGO). Logos is a Christ-centered ministry for the families of Spain, focused on providing educational development to those in need. We are committed to establishing a self-sufficient center that is cherished by the local community. Our goals are to create a safe environment for families, while providing quality educational service with integrity, and Christian witness of its staff.
We focus on English language education and after school tutoring. The academic culture in Spain is tough: schools are competitive, challenging students from an early age to perform at high levels. Learning centers like Logos and the use of tutors are very common, however, also can be very expensive. One of our goals is to provide quality educational resources at affordable prices as a way to serve the community. We are located in a strategic area to reach a large, diverse population, and many of our students are from immigrant families.
The learning center provides classrooms for the ESSA (Experience Spain Study Abroad) Program that began in the fall of 2015. It also is used as a meeting place for the John Wesley Bible Institute on a monthly basis.
A one year scholarship for one student is $400. Our prices are affordable for the community because of the coverage from a scholarship. However, without the scholarships, we only receive a portion of the finances needed each month to operate Logos effectively.
Sponsoring a scholarship of $15/month helps one student attend classes at Logos. We also need monthly contributions for the “where needed.” There are also several special projects/purchases we still need funds for. These include: a multi-function photocopier, and a projector and projector screen.
Our goal for annual income is: $25,000. This provides funds for student scholarships, salaries for two part-time teachers, and to cover general expenses.
